After Ovarian cancer, I had one Ovary removed and was wondering if it is still safe with all of the hormone pills I currently am taking to still use birth control and asking my doctor is a little awkward because he is related to me.

My mom (who has ovarian cancer) has a number of heavy symptoms (including constant bleeding, and pain). They’ve gotten pretty severe and she’s had them for quite some time.

Does this mean the cancer is already in the advanced stages? What are the statistics on this one? What are the odds of her recovering and living for many years more?
My mom is waiting to see a doctor and get the full prognosis and I am waiting to hear from mom. In the meantime, I thought I’d find out as much as I could.

My Gynecologist told me that when I turn 42 or 43 I most probably (more than 80% chance) will get ovarian cancer, if I don’t regulate my period with birth control. But the problem is that I can’t take birth control because of how it counter reacts with my other medications. So will I get ovarian cancer around the age of 42 to 43? My period stopped at 29 and now I am 36.
